Obituary of Darlene Lillian Jost

Darlene Lillian Jost, of Gravois Mills, Missouri, went to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 in Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of 87. She is with her beloved husband Albert E. Jost. Darlene was born October 3, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Leroy and Inez (Rodermund) Wehmueller. She graduated from Normandy High School in 1951. On July 6, 1957, Darlene was united in marriage to Albert E. Jost in St. Louis, Missouri, where they lived in Moline Acres, Missouri. They shared 52 years together when Albert preceded her in death on May 27, 2010. She joined the Lioness Clubs in 1960 and later joined the Lions Clubs. She served terms as Presidents in the Clubs and was a Governor of District 26/M7 Lions Clubs twice, in 2001-2002 and again in 2011-2012. She was a member of Hurricane Deck Lions Club and Rocky Mount Lions Club here at the lake. She joined the American Legion in 1968 and was a member of Zack Wheat American Legion Post 624 Auxiliary and served a term as President. She worked at C. V. Mosby Publishing Company as a proofreader. She also worked at F. E. Fowler Corporate Insurance as a broker. When she moved to Sunrise Beach, she got a job at Blair’s Landing Clothing Store where she retired in 2011. She has visited all 50 states along with Canada and Mexico. She visited several over sea’s countries. She was a host family for the Lions Club youth camp. She had several youths from different countries that stayed at her house. Some of the places that the youths came from were Italy, Japan, Germany, and Norway plus several others. She went to visit some of them in their homes. She had kept in touch with one from Norway, Elin Houhland, for 32 years. Darlene was raised in an upstanding God loving home. She always believed that you should dress nice to go to God’s house for church. She would say you dress for God and no one else. Darlene lived a full and happy life. No one could slow her down. She loved her family every much and tried to show them how to have some adventures as well. Darlene is survived by her children Penny (Robert) Hansen and Paul (Pam) Jost; grandchildren Krista (Alen) Bennett, Kayla Kammerer, Anthony Jost, Michael (Megan) Jost, Michelle (Darin) Paup, and Angela (Brian) Barnes; step granddaughters Christine (Vincent) Garvis and Edith (Kelly) Cimagia; 6 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; 10 step great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Greenview, Missouri. Memorial donations are suggested to the family.
