Janalee Hurst

Obituary of Janalee Ruth Hurst

Janalee Ruth Hurst (Nee; Terschluse) peacefully passed away at home in Linn Creek, Missouri on Sunday, November 8, 2020. Janalee was born June 4, 1958 in Washington, Missouri, the daughter of John "Buxie" and Ruth Terschluse, who preceded her in death. On September 11, 1992, Janalee was united in marriage to James J. Hurst in the St. Louis area. Janalee worked as an office manager at Kids Harbor, a substitute teacher, and as a buyer at Venture and Famous Barr. She loved helping people, especially young adults and children, which made substitute teaching and working at Kids Harbor especially gratifying to her. She was very active in helping her son and his friends in Cub Scouts, which resulted in many of them becoming Eagle Scouts. Her greatest stories were of her when she was in high school and college: driving her dad’s car too fast over a bridge, the Keller mobile, and creating lifelong relationships with her friends. She considered the speed limit a suggestion, and she loved going fast in her Mustang. She loved to travel: Germany, Ireland, Hawaii, the Bahamas, and many states in the USA. She loved the Rocky Mountains and seized the opportunity to go every chance she had. Janalee is survived by her husband James (Jim) Hurst, her son James (Buck) Hurst, and her brother Jeff Terschluse. Janalee will be lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Camdenton, Missouri. The family will welcome friends for visitation from 5:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Camdenton, Missouri. Memorial donations are suggested to CurePSP, FL 2, 1216 Broadway, New York, NY 10117-2402.
