Obituary of Hugh J. Rice

Hugh J. “Jim” Rice, age 73, of Lake Ozark, Missouri passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri. Jim was born September 17, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the son of Huey and Marie (Woolbright) Rice. On October 2, 1999, Jim was united in marriage to Patsy Horn in New Haven, Missouri. They shared 21 years of marriage before his passing. Jim was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. When Jim wasn’t spending time with his family, he enjoyed playing pool, fishing, dancing, karaoke, exploring new places, and always shopping for the best deals. He was a proud Veteran who loved his country and served in Vietnam from 1968-1971. Before Jim retired and moved to the Lake of the Ozarks, he worked for General Motors in Wentzville, Missouri for more than 30 years. Jim is survived by his wife Patsy Rice of the home; children Tim Rice (Maria) of Naples, Florida, Mandy Palmer-Rice (Angie) of St. Clair, Missouri, Amy Pellin (Jeremiah) of Hermann, Missouri, Rob Rice (Niki) of Belleville, Illinois, and Tom Rice (Danielle) of Camdenton, Missouri; step-son David Horn (Kerri) of Clark, Missouri; grandchildren Sophia and Nadia Rice, Mercedes Smith and Alexis Love, Mary and Rose Rice, Gabby, Izzy, Remi, and Lela Pellin, Charlie, Maxden, Henry, Arielle, and Hazleigh Rice; and step-grandchildren Madison and Quentin Horn. He is also survived by brothers Bob Rice (Carolyn) of Colleyville, Texas, Bill Rice (Gayle) of Yuma, Arizona, and Joe Rice (Kate) of Dardenne Prairie, Missouri. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Huey and Marie Rice. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Osage Beach, Missouri. The family will welcome friends for visitation from 12:00 – 1:00 pm prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Lake Memorial Gardens in Osage Beach, Missouri.
