Obituary of Leroy L. Nelson, Jr.

Leroy L. Nelson, Jr., age 85, of Osage Beach, Missouri passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. Lee was born August 26, 1935 in Hamilton, Missouri. He was the son of Leroy L. Nelson, Sr. and Iva (Whitsell) Nelson. On February 18, 1956, Leroy was united in marriage to Doris Tritt in Hamilton, Missouri. They shared 56 years together at the time of her passing on October 31, 2012. Lee was a wonderful father and the best dad one could hope for. He was a great friend and had a servant’s heart of giving. In 1957, Lee graduated from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri with a Degree in Business. He worked for 31 years at General Motors where he retired from. He spent 43 years serving in the ministry of Dry Dock and 10 years volunteering at the Dogwood Animal Shelter. He loved to get out and play golf and go out on the lake in his boat. He especially enjoyed fishing with his granddaughter. Lee is survived by his son Eric Nelson of Camdenton, Missouri; daughter Lori Blacksher and husband Scott of Lake Ozark, Missouri; granddaughter Anastacia Blacksher; and special friend Ruby Morgan of Lake Ozark, Missouri. Lee was preceded in death by his loving wife Doris Nelson, parents Leroy and Iva Nelson, brother Edward Nelson, and sister Martha Boyles. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Osage Beach, Missouri. The family will welcome friends for visitation from 2:00 – 3:00 pm prior to services at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at Lake Memorial Gardens in Osage Beach, Missouri. Memorial donations are suggested to Dogwood Animal Shelter, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, local AA group, or a church of your choice.
