Obituary of Sue Irene Brodecker

Sue Irene Brodecker, age 87, of Eldon, Missouri passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Rock Island Village in Eldon. Sue was born April 2, 1933 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Merle A. and Elva Irene (Yerkes) Benson. On August 16, 1958, Sue was united in marriage to Allen Loyd “Buss” Brodecker in Topeka, Kansas. They shared 59 years of marriage at the time he preceded her in death on May 17, 2018. Sue was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved her family dearly and loved spending time with them. She graduated Washburn University in Topeka and then taught music at Delia Charter School for several years. She was an avid and skilled piano player. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bridge cards and playing bingo. She also enjoyed getting outside and playing golf. For 46 years, Sue was a member of AA. Sue is survived by her son Craig Brodecker and his wife Renate of Eldon, Missouri; her daughter Stacy Maples and husband John of Osage Beach, Missouri; five grandchildren Jason (Misty), Ryan (Alex), Jeremy (Miranda), Wrendy (Devin), and Ashley (Jason); nine great-grandchildren Samantha, Mason, Kelsey (Michael), Caitlyn, Kyle, Brooklynn, Adalynn, Kayson, and Reese; her sister Bonnie Gordon of Tampa, Florida; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Sue was preceded in death by her parents Merle and Elva Benson and her husband Allen Loyd “Buss” Brodecker. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 12:00 pm at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Osage Beach, Missouri. The family will welcome friends for visitation from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Lake Memorial Gardens Veteran Wall in Osage Beach, Missouri. Memorial donations are suggested to Rock Island Village in Eldon, Missouri.
