Obituary of Ronald Roy Landrus

Ronald (Ronnie) Roy Landrus, age 91, of Linn Creek, Missouri, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021 at his home in Linn Creek, Missouri. Ronnie was born January 14, 1930 in Carbon, Iowa. He was the son of Roy E. and Eunice (Howard) Landrus. On July 17, 1949 he was united in marriage to Derry Dee Boyer. Together, they shared over 71 years as husband and wife at the time of his death. Ronnie served in the US Army from 1948-1950. He was saved and baptized September 10, 1967 at Church of the Brethren (formerly Dunkers) in Garrison, Iowa. After retiring from Iowa Steel and Iron Works (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) he and Derry relocated to Lake of the Ozarks and purchased Linn Creek Campground in 1982. Ronnie loved meeting and talking to people from all across the country who stayed at the campground. He never knew a stranger and always had a baby in his arms or a grandkid in the bronco (his office). He enjoyed tinkering around with almost anything and enjoyed working all around the campground and boat docks. Ronnie is survived by his loving wife, Derry, of the home; his children, Diane Hofmeister and husband, Mike of St. Joseph, Missouri; Nancy Scott and friend Leo Pennington of Linn Creek, Missouri; son-in-law Flynn Chambers of Rolla, Missouri; Dennis Landrus and wife, Diane, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Dannie Landrus and wife, Lou, of Linn Creek, Missouri; and Annette Landrus Small of Linn Creek, Missouri. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and his sister Jannett Wattenbarger of St. Joseph, Missouri; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Eunice Landrus; his daughter Cathy Leane Landrus-Chambers; his son-in-law, Britt Small; his brothers, Jim Landrus and Fred Landrus; his sister, Helen Hodges; his grandson, Joshua I. Landrus; and his great granddaughter, Elana Rose Silko. Visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 pm, Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri. Graveside Service and Interment will be 1:00 pm, Tuesday, January 26 at Linnwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Hospitals.
