Obituary of Frances Mae McLaughlin
Daviess County native, Frances Mae McLaughlin, age 77, of Altamont, Missouri passed from this life on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Lake Regional Health System with family by her side.
Frances was born on August 4, 1943 in Jamesport, Missouri, the youngest daughter of Walter and Adah Thomas. Frances graduated from Tri County High School in 1961. By 1962, she became a wife and a mother and moved around with her new family for a while. After the divorce, Frances came back to Daviess County and started work in the food service industry and refilled so many coffee cups and filled empty tummies at places like: The Junction at 6 & 69 before it burned, Whitt’s Dinner Bell in Gallatin, Missouri, and the Viking Truck Stop in Winston, Missouri.
After marrying Jerry McLaughlin in 1976, Frances became a nurse in the 1980s and worked as an in Home Healthcare Nurse, caring for so many patients in Northwest Missouri. Frances worked hard and was so full of love for everyone and everything.
Frances has been a lifelong K.C. Chiefs fan. Also, being out in her yard mowing, planting a garden, taking care of the farm animals and pets were great joys for her. She also enjoyed cooking, canning, baking, sewing, quilting, and needlepoint. She loved filling her time with family, playing all the card games, and putting puzzles together. She was truly a lady of many talents. Frances was a great role model and teacher for her family.
Frances is survived by her daughter Anita Foster and husband David; granddaughter Wendy Foster; great-granddaughter Bailey, all of Osage Beach, Missouri; a host of nieces and nephews; two stepdaughters and families; one stepson and two step grandchildren Casey and Corey and many other relatives and many friends.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Adah Thomas; her husband of 27 years Jerry McLaughlin; two sisters Bonita Miner and Mary Katherine; three brothers Richard, Howard, and Billie Jo Thomas.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 19, 2021 at Mount Ayr Cemetery in Altamont, Missouri.
