Obituary of George Earl Palmer
George Earl Palmer, age 78, of Macks Creek, Missouri, passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 at his home in Macks Creek.
George was born July 26, 1942 in Macks Creek, Missouri, the son of Clarence and Walcie (Stidham) Palmer.
On June 12, 1965, in Buffalo, Missouri, George was united in marriage to Joyce Smith. They shared over 55 years together as husband and wife at the time of his death.
George grew up in rural Dallas County and graduated from Tunas High School with the class of 1960. He moved to Kansas City shortly thereafter and was employed as a painter by St. Mary’s Hospital. He remained in Kansas City until returning to his Macks Creek roots in 1976. In 1978, he purchased Thompson Station in Macks Creek and owned and operated the business for over 23 years. During this time, George proudly bred and raised Missouri Fox Trotter horses. He always said, “I wouldn’t give a quarter for a quarter horse.” George may have been a little biased when it came to his horses.
George was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who leaves behind many cherished memories for his family and friends to treasure.
George is survived by his loving wife, Joyce, of the home; his daughter Shelly Parrack and husband, Craig, of Macks Creek, Missouri; his son Keith Palmer and wife, Shannon, of Tunas, Missouri; three grandchildren, Andy Parrack and wife, Chelsy, of Lebanon, Missouri, Kami George and husband, Russell, of Macks Creek, Missouri, and Gable Palmer of Tunas, Missouri; and five great-grandchildren, Aiden George, Sawyer George, Kelsie George, Emma Parrack, and Sophie Parrack. He is also survived by his brother, Jerry Palmer and wife, Yvonne, of Macks Creek, Missouri; his sister-in-law Nancy Palmer; his niece Deniece Fernandez; his nephews David Palmer and Chris Palmer; and his uncle Ellis Ferrell of Buffalo, Missouri.
George is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Walcie Palmer; and his brother Charles Palmer.
Services will be held at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Macks Creek, Missouri. The family will welcome friends for visitation from 1:00-3:00 pm prior to services at the funeral home.
