Obituary of Gordon E. Davis
Gordon E. Davis, 86, of Linn Creek, Missouri and formerly of Waynesville and St. Robert, Missouri, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021, in University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Gordon was born July 6, 1934, in Camden County, Missouri, to parents Ishmael and Eula (Garman) Davis. He was raised in Richland, Missouri and graduated from Richland High School.
On December 30, 1961, Gordon was united in marriage to Annora Lynch in the original St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. They have shared nearly 60 years of marriage and to this union three children were born.
Gordon and Annora treasured many years of traveling together, especially in their RV. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, boating and talking on the phone. He very much enjoyed visiting with his family and friends.
Gordon served his country in the United States Army. He went on to become a business owner in St. Robert for many years until retirement. He was involved in the St. Robert community where he served as a city councilman and served on committees such as the Planning and Zoning Committee. Gordon was one of four men who were the donors of the land where the St. Robert Community Center is located.
He joined the Catholic church in 1972. His Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation were performed by Bishop Michael McAuliffe in the Methodist church in Richland. (St. Jude Parish was granted use of the church until their own church was built.)
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Clifford Davis; his sister, Doris Jean Herrell; two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and two nephews.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Annora, of the home; children, Charles (Gayla) Davis of Ozark, Missouri, Robert (Jamie) Davis of Shawnee, Kansas, Mary (Kevin) Krenzer of Linn Creek, Missouri, William (Jocelyne) Trujillo of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Marc Roam, Leah (BJ) Sutcliffe, Rylan Davis, Camden Davis and Mason Davis; three great-grandchildren; three brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and numerous other family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral mass for Gordon E. Davis will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, May 20, 2021, at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in St. Robert, Missouri. Inurnment will follow at the Resurrection Cemetery located by the church, then visiting in the church basement.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Gordon Davis to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Resurrection Cemetery.
