William Boillot

Obituary of William Leo Boillot

Cherished husband and father, William Leo “Bill” Boillot went to heaven peacefully Thursday, May 13, 2021, with loved ones at his side in Springfield, Missouri.

Born February 26, 1931 in Linn, Missouri, Bill spent the bulk of his life in Camdenton, Missouri, where he was a Cub Scout leader, Little League coach, a charter member of the town’s Knights of Columbus chapter, 15-year school board member, and loyal St. Louis Cardinals’ fan. He spent the final years of his life in Ozark, Missouri so he could be in close proximity to family.

After graduating from Linn High School in 1949, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1950 and served four years during the Korean War. He loved traveling -- he looked forward to trips throughout his life -- and his time in the Navy allowed him to see the world. Post-Navy, he attended the University of Missouri, where he graduated in 1958 with a degree in public administration.

Bill and wife Kay were married August 27, 1955, in Rich Fountain, Missouri. Settling in Camdenton to raise a family, he made a living in the insurance business and retired in 1992. He enjoyed showing people business cards he made for his retirement years. He found fulfillment in taking care of things -- his family, his yard, the Knights of Columbus Hall (he presided over bingo there) and birds that were treated to his feeder.

A music lover, he had varied tastes in music and was a frequent listener of the Old Record Collector radio show that originates from Springfield. His radio and television were often tuned to St. Louis Cardinals games.  Those who knew him can attest that he refined tastes, sometimes paying a little extra for nice meals and clothing items.

He is survived by wife Kay, with whom he enjoyed a 65-year marriage; son Steve and his wife, Toni, of Ozark, Missouri, son Dan of Topeka, Kansas, daughter Diane Long and husband, Ed, of Ozark, Missouri, daughter Brenda Spurgeon and husband, Dennis, of Rolla, Missouri, and daughter Vicki Tramel and husband, Jimmie, of Verdigris, Oklahoma. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren -- Stacy Bruemmer, Kayla Bruemmer, Derek and Denver Spurgeon, Heather Palisi, Garrett Boillot, Ashley Boillot-Fancher, Andrew Boillot, Leslie Tenney, Carrie Bryer, Debbie DeMott, Katie and Kal Tramel, and numerous great-grandchildren. He was beloved by his sister-in-laws and all of his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded into heaven by his mother and father, Cora and William Boillot, and sister Bernadine Morgan.
