Obituary of Sheila Ann Grothaus

Sheila Ann Grothaus, 64, of Sunrise Beach, Missouri passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021.

She beat smoking cigarettes and alcoholism, raising 3 kids, a divorce, remarried Leo Grothaus in 1992, open heart surgery and several heart attacks. She beat lung cancer and brain cancer, but couldn’t outlast her battle with liver cancer. However she was not quick to show her discomfort to others.

Her legacy will live on through her family and friends and through the stories they share about her.

She loved telling stories about when she was a young girl with her sisters and cousins. She loved playing pranks and telling dirty jokes. She adored her grandkids and pets. She was quick to defend the underdog, whether it be human or animal. She was fiercely loyal yet not hesitant to state her opinions.

She married the love of her life, Leo Grothaus on September 6, 1992. Her heart has been aching for him since his passing in 2006, but they have now been reunited and she’s happy again.

She is survived by her 3 children Gabrielle, George and wife Kelly, and Simon Hirner; 8 grandchildren Avery, Ayden, Christina, Cooper,  Carly, Lillian, Georgia, and Kolson; 4 sisters Janet, Glenda, Charlene, and Debbie; and lots of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

She will be missed by never forgotten.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Lake Memorial Gardens in Osage Beach, Missouri where she will be put to rest next to her husband Leo. A Celebration of Life will follow at her house in Sunrise Beach, Missouri.
