Linda Sarto

Obituary of Linda Kay Sarto

Linda Kay Sarto

On the morning of July 5th, 2021, Linda Sarto passed away at the age of 75 in her home surrounded by loved ones. Linda was born to the late Frank and Doris Turouske on September 27, 1945 in Elgin, IL. She was born with the gift of gab and a contagious smile. For her, becoming a beautician was a natural calling. More than anything, Linda loved her family dearly and cherished the time she spent with them. Linda was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, friend, and second “mother” to many.

In 1968, she met Duey Sarto when they were both cruising through downtown Elgin, IL, driving their hot rod Camaro’s. Duey and Linda were united in marriage on May 17th, 1969, which began their 52 years of marriage; a marriage that was full of love and laughter. Linda loved learning about pretty much everything. She had a special fondness for English history, talking about politics, shopping, and traveling. Being able to travel to England, France, and Hawaii, along with numerous trips to Civil War sites with her grandsons, were some of the highlights of her life. Linda loved everything about life, and was always quick to offer a warm smile or a hug. Her graduation from beauty school started her lifelong passion of making people who sat in her chair feel special. She had the special ability to remember everyone’s story, so when they returned for their next visit, they could start again from where they left off. She truly had a gift for making everyone feel special and loved. She thoroughly enjoyed people and would listen to anyone who wanted to talk. She enjoyed sharing her own stories as well. Linda often spoke fondly about her children and grandchildren’s achievements, showing how proud she was of them. Family always meant the world to her, and she loved to show them off.

Linda is survived by her husband Duane (Duey) Sarto, two children Andrea (Aron) Rhoades, Greg (fiancée, Kristie) Sarto, two grandchildren, Cameron and Sebastian Rhoades, two sisters Lorna (Bill) Schmidt, and Leesa (Kevin) Hansen, one brother Larry (Maria) Turouske, along with many, very loved, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 1:00 - 2:30 pm at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Camdenton, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorials or cards can be given at the Celebration of Life or sent directly to a beloved charity.

The family wishes to offer a special thank you to the staff and nurses of Compassus In-Home Hospice care in Osage Beach, MO. Their compassionate care and support for Linda, even though very brief, was amazing. Linda’s wishes were to be cremated, not have a traditional funeral service, but rather to have a celebration of life party for family and friends.
