Obituary of Bradly S. Bolz

Bradly “Brad” S. Bolz, 61, of Camdenton, Missouri went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri.  He passed away peacefully with his family surrounding him.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and son.  His smile and twinkle in his eye brightened a room.  Brad loved people and truly cared about the health and well-being of family, friends, and strangers.  He was known for his loyalty, kindness and generosity coupled with a plethora of facts and storytelling. His love and support of those around him spurred many on to achieve great things for themselves. He believed in the impossible.

Brad was born May 8, 1960, in St. Joseph, Missouri.  He attended Heartland Worship Center in Camdenton, Missouri.  Brad’s faith was infectious as he lived each day in accordance with John 14:12, “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.” 

Brad graduated from University of Central Missouri with a B.S. in Agriculture.  He was an avid trombonist, playing in the Lake Area Strings, Lake Area Community Orchestra, and Lake Area Jazz Band.  Every Christmas, Brad played his trombone at Salvation Army kettles. He competed in the IPSC Handgun World Shoot XVIII in Chateauroux, France, winning a gold medal for the USA in September 2017.  Brad loved to play tennis with his niece, racquetball with his friends, and kayak and hike with his family. Brad and his wife, Christine, enjoyed piloting their Cessna 182, captaining their Boundary Waters pontoon, and traveling together.  Brad participated in the Experimental Aircraft Association Young Eagles program, giving future aviation enthusiasts their first flight experience. 

Brad co-owned and operated Bolz Marine Survey and Claims, LLC, a family-owned business established in 1964 and Outdoor Freedom, Inc.  For more than two decades, Brad and Patty (Bolz) Pink owned Patty’s University Bookstore, Inc. in Kirksville, Missouri.  Brad was the regional marketing manager, Salt Lake City, Utah, for Federated Mutual Insurance Companies early in his career. 

Brad is survived by his wife, Christine (Shogren); son, Daxton Bolz, and step-daughters, Jackie (Keith) Beaudoin, Leslie (Nathan) Fenton, Chelsea (Dan) Stanley, Paige (Kris) Magruder, and Madison (Dan) Murphy; twelve grand-children; sister, Brenda (David) Dahlhoff; brother, Brian (Molly) Bolz; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen “Joanne” (Fleek) Bolz; father, Carl Bolz; and sister, Susan Bolz. 

A graveside memorial will take place on Friday, August 6, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Belmont Cemetery in Wathena, Kansas.  A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Heartland Worship Center, 2340 Old Route 5, Camdenton, Missouri at 3 p.m.  The service will be livestreamed on the Heartland Worship Center website (heartlandworshipcenter.org/live-services) and Facebook page.  Visitation begins at 1 p.m.  The family will continue to honor Brad at their family home from 5-8 p.m. 

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 10 a.m. at Chain of Lakes Bible Church, 43 W. Grass Lake Rd, Lake Villa, Illinois, with a reception to follow.

Friends of Kirksville established an online memory book for friends and family to share memories and photos of Brad that will be created into a book for Daxton at storyworth.com. Donations may be given in memory of Brad Bolz to EAA Chapter #1254 to further support Young Eagles flights or the Brad Bolz Memorial Fund established at Central Bank to carry on Brad’s dreams and passions for Christine and Daxton and the community he loved.
