Obituary of Bonnie May Hunt Green

Bonnie May Hunt Green, of Macks Creek, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at her home.

She was born December 27, 1920 at the Hunt family farm on Broads Branch in Camden County. Bonnie was the daughter of Chloie Belle Varner Hunt and Albert Dowe Hunt, who preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by three brothers Lawrence Ross Hunt, Billy Joe Hunt, and William Brice Hunt; one infant sister Mildred Jane Hunt; step-sister Zelma Meads; step-brothers Ethan Laughlin and Bob Laughlin; son-in-law William H. Stoner; and granddaughter Lisa Michelle Hyde Coffelt.

Bonnie was saved at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church when she was 12 years old.

Bonnie married William Harrison Green on March 23, 1946 and he preceded her in death on April 25, 2003. They enjoyed 57 years together.

She held many jobs including Macks Creek Post Office in the late 1930’s – early 1940’s. She lived and worked in Kansas City during World War II and worked at Lake City Munitions Plant. Bill and Bonnie always said “She made ammunition for Bill to shoot” when he was in the Pacific during World War II.

After marriage, they lived in Oregon before moving back to Missouri to a farm they purchased on Banister Hollow in Macks Creek.

She was known for her delicious cobblers, especially wild huckleberry. She was a wonderful cook. She loved all her family very much. She was always interested in family. She was a wonderful wife and mother.

Her hobbies were quilting, gardening, and she loved to read. She enjoyed accompanying her husband Bill to the Pearl Harbor survivors meetings held at various locations, because he was stationed at Pearl Harbor in the Army at the time of attack. They especially enjoyed traveling to Hawaii for the Pearl Harbor survivors 50 year reunion in 1991. She and her husband loved being together and were very devoted to each other.

Bonnie is survived by her daughters Billie Kathleen Green Hyde of Macks Creek, Missouri, Patricia Jean Green of Macks Creek, Missouri, and Joyce Ann Green Stoner of Roach, Missouri; 8 grandchildren Curtis Eugene Hyde, Heather Kathleen Hyde Danforth, Cary Mark Stoner, Kevin Matthew Stoner, Christina Lynn Stoner Calvert, Kimberly Ann Stoner Puig, Justin William Stoner, and Kathleen Amanda Stoner Gunter; 23 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Macks Creek, Missouri. The family will welcome friends for visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 pm prior to services.

Interment will follow services at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Edith, Missouri.
