In my experience, it didn’t take much to make my Gramma happy. A phone call, a card, a photo, a visit, or a kiss. Our family was the most important thing in the world to her and she lived to make our lives and the lives of those around her, better.
There have been and will be times in my life when situations arise where I'll want so much to talk to her, be with her or just ask her questions about our family history. I'm comforted however that when those times come, I'll be able to look to my Dad, my Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins and find that part of her that she gave to each of us. Maybe we'll learn to lean on each other and rely on each other even more than we already do. The way we always knew that we could with her. Maybe then she won’t seem quite so far away.
So, for your wisdom, your humor, tenderness and compassion, your understanding, your patience, and your love; thank you, Gramma. After you, the mold was indeed broken. I'll love you always and I'll make sure my boys always know how much you loved them.
