Obituary of Race C. Nations

Race Charles Nations, age 56, of Macks Creek, Missouri passed away at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri on Friday, November 19, 2021 with his family by his side.

Race was born to Charles & Barbara Nations in Independence, Missouri on July 12, 1965.

Race graduated from Macks Creek High School in 1983. While in high school Race attended votech, where he studied welding. Race was a member of the First Baptist Church of Macks Creek. In 1985, Race married Cheri Fowler and together they had twin boys Shawn Charles Nations and Shane Ray Nations. For 27 years, he worked in Industrial Refrigeration starting as a welder and quickly worked his way up to superintendent. Over the years, he was well known for his quality of work and attention to detail. Race was passionate about his work, and always strived to be his best and pushed the people around him to always give their best. He worked for some great companies over the years and made some lasting friendships. He was truly blessed to be able to work many years side-by-side with both of his sons. Race’s favorite pastime was spent at the local dirt-tracks, where he enjoyed working on the family racecar #14. Race achieved his dream of having a farm and raising cattle; some of his favorite times were spent on the tractor or building fence. The most important thing to Race was spending time and making memories with his family, especially his grandkids. 

Race was preceded in death by his father Charles Nations and brother Randy Nations.

Race is survived by his loving wife Cheri of the home; two sons, Shane Nations & wife Melissa of Willard, Missouri and Shawn Nations & wife Brittney of Macks Creek, Missouri; four grandchildren Reece, Bristol, Jayce, and Mayce; his mother Barbara Nations; one sister Gale Nations; one brother Alden Nations; and his in-laws Red and Betty Fowler. He also leaves nieces, a nephew, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many, many friends.

A celebration of life will be held Monday, November 22, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Macks Creek, Missouri. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 11:00 am at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Macks Creek, Missouri.
