Obituary of Linda Carol Hughes

Linda Carol Hughes, age 81, of Camdenton, Missouri passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022 at her home in Camdenton.

Linda was born on January 22, 1940 in Argentine, Kansas, the second child to Roscoe and Virgina Whiles. She grew up playing with friends she still had up to the day she passed away. After schooling, she worked in an orphanage. Then she went traveling to Germany for a couple of months. When she came back to the USA, she worked at a luggage company. She met the love of her life James Hughes, who she married December 30, 1970. They had one daughter and resided in Edwardsville, Kansas. She became a Girl Scout leader where she helped a wonderful group of girls and became life-long friends with their mothers. She was excited to become a grandma and doted on both of her grandsons, who she loved with all of her heart. Then in 1999, her husband retired from the Union and they moved to Camdenton, Missouri. She spent her time down here volunteering for the schools and the Lamb House. They became members of New Beginnings Baptist Church and quickly made many new and dear friends. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband James Hughes, her parents Roscoe and Virgina Whiles, her brother David Whiles, and her sister Nancy Meadow.

She is survived by her daughter Marilyn and Brian Custer of Camdenton, Missouri and two grandsons Jonathan Upp and Andrew Custer.
