Obituary of William Howard Walker

William (Bill) Howard Walker, 74, of Climax Springs, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at home, surrounded by his wife and family. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, to Howard Herbert and Alice Ruth (Cleek) Walker on November 23, 1947. 

Bill retired as a Design Engineer RCDD from Southwestern Bell after 32 years of service and proudly wore many hats during his career. Additionally, he served as President of Local CWA 6325, was an active member of SWBT Pioneers, and was actively involved with the volunteer organization SB Community Relations Team. 

Bill’s faith in God was steadfast as evidenced by his continued stewardship with the Catholic Church where he achieved the honor of becoming a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, Holy Spirit Counsel 8334.

Bill and Sharon retired to their lake home at the Lake of the Ozarks, their slice of heaven. Here he continued to serve others by becoming a volunteer firefighter, EMR, and board member with the Coffman Bend Fire Department. He cherished his time serving this organization and the friendships he made. 

Although he did not have an ideal childhood, he chose to rise above to become the incredible man and role model that he was. The love that he had for his family was his purpose. Whether he was Sea Dooing, fishing, boating, water-skiing, grilling, splinter removing, or just enjoying talks on the dock, he radiated joy and light. There was nothing he couldn’t fix or build, and he relished teaching his children and grandchildren everything he knew. His wisdom and wit defined him and carried through until his last day. While we often laughed at his collection of flashlights, we now understand the connection, he was our guiding light. 

Bill will be dearly missed by his “lovely bride” and best friend of 45 years, Sharon, his daughter Alicia and husband Chris Kelly of Lenexa, Kansas, son Jason Walker of Overland Park, Kansas, daughter Tiffany and husband Jon Siskey of San Antonio, Texas, and son John Kirby of Kansas City, Missouri. He leaves behind seven adoring grandchildren, Jamie, Rachel, and Bobby Kelly, Olivia, Jillian, and Joey Siskey, Savannah Walker and one great-grandchild Miles Gallardo. In addition, he is survived by his dear sister Jeanette Wheeling of Independence, Missouri, and his many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Howard Herbert, and sisters, Mary Casey, Jody Perry, and Linda Jennings.

Services will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 with visitation at 10:00 am and Mass at 11:00 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1800 SW State Rte 150, Lee’s Summit, MO, 64082. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Parkinson’s Foundation or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
