Catherine Fowler

Obituary of Catherine Louise Fowler

Catherine (Kitty) Louise Fowler was born May 28, 1941, in Stuttgart, Arkansas.  She was the daughter of Bernard and Julia Wargo Hartz.

Kitty was the oldest sibling and she had one younger sister Felicia, and many cousins from the Hartz and Wargo families.

Kitty married Richard Thomas Fowler Sr. of Carlisle, Arkansas, in 1963, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, in Stuttgart. They began their family later that same year with the birth of Richard (Ricky) Thomas Fowler Jr.  In 1965, they added Robert (Cody) Jacob, and in 1967, Tamera (Tammy) Ann. They built their entire lives around this family that they created, and were blessed with a true love for each other.  They spent 59 years of marriage together loving and laughing through good times and bad. A gift many only dream to have.

For many years, Kitty worked as an X-ray Technician for Stuttgart Memorial Hospital, Arkansas Department of Health, and Dr. Riggler’s Family Clinic.  She was always proud of this education and her years working in the healthcare field.  As her back issues required her to change professions, she later worked as a Secretary for North Little Rock Funeral Home, Harris Funeral Home, the University of Central Arkansas, and lastly, ALLTEL Communications, Inc.  She loved organizing, customer service and helping others.  It was a joy to help the students at UCA, and to aid visitors and guests at ALLTEL.  Her sparkling personality made her perfect for the job!  Finally, Kitty and Richard moved to Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, and purchased a T-shirt shop.  They enjoyed two years of semi-retirement.  It was a fun and rewarding experience where they met lots of new people and Kitty could chat the hours away.

In her spare time, Kitty loved taking her children to Petit Jean Mountain State Park for a day at the swimming pool, 4th of July fireworks or a simple picnic.  She loved spending weekends at Greers Ferry Lake and camping, sun tanning, riding in the boat or watching the kid’s water ski.  She did prefer the camper over the tent!  In addition, she loved a good book, talking on her CB radio with her call sign “Ladybug,” listening to popular music, and the funny pranks of DJ Craig O’Neill on B98 radio station.  She drove the kids everywhere for band, choir, football, track and dance team practice.  She met her “identical twin” at one of Ricky’s concert events, she refused to get in the floor board when Cody was learning to drive and wanted to be COOL, and she loved the artistry of the dances Tammy did throughout high school.  Kitty rarely missed cooking a meal, and was the perfect short order cook lining up each kid to do their part of the assembly line required to get a meal on the table every night after a long day of work and commuting for her job.  She loved Richard and would always cook something he enjoyed, and would even make sack lunches to take to him and the boys at the farm so they didn’t starve.  Later, when grandchildren started arriving, she adored her time with them and created special bonds with each and every one of them.  Kitty even had the joy of seven great grandchildren to spoil even more!

Surviving are her husband Richard Fowler of Eldon, Missouri; sister Felicia McCollum of Farmington, Arkansas; children Rick Fowler of Davenport, Iowa; Cody Fowler and wife Tina of Pueblo, Colorado; Tamera Moseley and husband Randy of Lake Ozark, Missouri; grandchildren: Adrianna, Megan, Caitlin, Brittany, Courtney, Alexis, Jacob, Timothy, Clark and Samantha; and seven great grandchildren.

We thank you for all you’ve done and for all you are.  We miss you dearly and will love you always!
