Obituary of Larry Charles Andrews

Larry Charles Andrews, age 75, of Southaven, Mississippi, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, May 16, 2022, at Methodist Germantown Hospital, Germantown, Tennessee, surrounded by his wife, children, and sister-in-law.

Larry was born March 9, 1947, in Chico, California, to the late Lewis and Mary Andrews.

 

He joined the United States Navy in 1966 and served on the USS Hancock during the Vietnam War.

 

On April 26 1985 he married his loving wife, Karen (Scott), of 37 years who survives. Also surviving are his three children; oldest daughter, Tiffany (Jessy) Dayton, son Chris (Michelle) Andrews, and youngest daughter Katlynn Dunn.  He is also survived by his granddaughters,Tabitha Dayton, Ashley Jenkins, Angelia Andrews, Shanna Dunn, Alyssa Dunn, Khloe Dunn and grandson Conner Jenkins.

 

Also surviving are his sister-in-law, Kathy Scott (Karen), his brothers-in-law, Patrick (Glenda) Scott, Tim (Joy) Scott, Kevin (Tammy) Scott and Tom (Paula) Scott; his nephews Christopher (LeighAnn) Scott, James Scott, Kelly (Alicia) Scott, Kevin Joseph (Danielle) Scott, and Matthew (Ashley) Scott; his nieces, Cheri Sue (Tim) Foster, NiJeatte James David) Stout, Katreen Scott, Kim (Dan) Eppes, Emily (Dillon) Viet, Courtney (Derek) Thomas, and Jessica Scott; as well as several very loved great nieces and nephews, and those he considered family.

 

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his two brothers, Dan and Tony Vrisimo; his mother-in-law Jeannette Scott, his brother-in-law Mike Scott, Sr. and his wife Mary Scott, as well as their oldest son Mike Scott Jr.

 

Larry was a hard working and devoted husband, father, grandpa/papa, friend, and church member. His three great loves were God, family, and church. He enjoyed traveling in his van with his kids, attending grandchildren’s extracurricular activities and other school functions. He also found joy in just sitting on the front porch and visiting with friends. He was a very loving man who enjoyed having a large family and would “father” the neighborhood children, as well as his own children and grandchildren’s friends. He enjoyed fellowship with his Prince of Peace family and very rarely missed a Sunday.

 

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm,  Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Southaven, Mississippi. Services will follow at 12:00 pm. Officiating will be Pastor Warren Pellom of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and Pastor David Hartung of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Starkville, Mississippi.

 

The Family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Southaven, Mississippi, or to St. Jude Research Hospital in Memphis Tennessee.
