Obituary of Karen L. Cooper

Karen L. Cooper, age 74, of Eldon, Missouri, departed this life Friday, October 7, 2022, at Lakeside Meadows in Osage Beach, Missouri.

Karen was born June 20, 1948, in Polk, Missouri, the daughter of Malcom and Minnie (Ahart) McDowell.

On November 8, 1974, in Eldon, Missouri, Karen was united in marriage to Darrell Cooper and together they shared over 47 years as husband and wife.

Karen enjoyed a long career with AT&T as a technician.  In her spare time, she loved traveling and taking photos.   Karen loved singing and tending to her flowers, but more than anything, she loved her family.

Karen was a loving and devoted wife to Darrell and a caring mother and grandmother to her children and their families.  Her legacy will live on in their memories.

Karen is survived by her husband, Darrell, of the home; her son Michael Cooper and his wife, Brenda, of Utah; her daughter Melissa Scritchfield and husband, John, of Florida; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brothers, Willard McDowell and wife, Rita, of Ulman, Missouri, and Myron McDowell and wife, Brenda, of Eldon, Missouri; and sisters, Marilyn Myers and husband, Ronnie, of Halfway, Missouri, and Joyce Mann of Camdenton, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Malcom and Minnie McDowell; her brothers, Ronald, Vincent, and Winston; and one grandson, Mark Dunstan II.

Services will be held at 6:00 pm, Thursday, October 13, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Eldon, Missouri. A reception will be held in the fellowship hall following celebration.

In lieu of sending flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the charity of donor’s choosing.
