Obituary of Dan Butner

It is with profound sorrow that we must announce the passing of Dan Butner. He left us on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. He was 76; born on July 18, 1946 in St. Joseph, Missouri.  Dan died peacefully at home doing what he loved, taking care of his beautiful yard. He was happy, healthy, and strong right to his last day.

Dan is survived by his wife and best friend of 31 years, Ramona Butner. They shared a deep love for each other. They were the light of each other's lives. She will honor his life by remembering the love and joy they shared. He is also survived by his brother, Mike Butner and wife Peggy; his daughter, Danielle Flowers and husband Conn Flowers; his son, Mark Butner; his stepdaughter, Danielle Vaughn and husband Ryan O'Connell; his stepson, Brandon Jones and wife Rachel Jones; two grandsons; two granddaughters; and one great-grandson; his extended family Nichole and son; and his two dogs Bentley and Oliver. He was preceded in death by his oldest child, Scott Butner. Dan was a God-fearing man.  Dan and Scott are reunited once again.

Dan was a kind, gentle man. He was very generous and loved helping people. He took pride in his home and lawn. They always looked beautiful. He took pride in everything he did. If he did the job, it was going to be done perfectly. Most of all he loved being at home with his wife and dogs, enjoying time together. "The man is a success who has lived well, loved much, and laughed often." - Robert Louis Stevenson.  Dan lived a very successful life.

He served his country in the Missouri National Guard from 1967 to 1971. He will receive a service with military honors at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Osage Beach, Missouri. There will be a celebration of life on his upcoming birthday, July 18, 2023. It will also take place in Lake Ozark.
