Lorraine White

Obituary of Lorraine E. White

Please share a memory of Lorraine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lorraine was born July 15, 1934 in a vacation cottage at Lake Idlewild near Carbondale, PA, the last of nine children for Evelyn Craik and George Owen.

She married Lee White in the Methodist Church in Dallas, PA. This required two attendants and fifteen minutes. They were married 68 years. They had two children, Bob and Melody, now adults with grandchildren.

She worked outside of the home in 1961 for just one year with the goal of netting $1000 to improve the family’s financial situation. She put on high heels, stockings, and a fancy dress to look like a private secretary for the president of the Jewel Tea Company.

She committed her life to Christ on December 31, 1967 and remained faithful to the end.

She graduated in 1985 from Scott Community College, Bettendorf, IA, with a certificate in computer operation with a straight A average. Then she taught Lee how to do computer programing in DOS.

She has been a volunteer most of her life which has included being a hospital volunteer, church office secretary, youth camp teacher and counselor, arts and crafts teacher. She also worked part time as a proof reader for a Craft Books Publisher in Danville. IL.

She enjoyed working on all kinds of crafts, reading novels, fishing, and helping at church. She loved to sing and for many years sang with a women’s barbershop chorus and in the church choir.

On November 18, 2022 her old body died at age 88 and her spirit left. She is now free from bodily discomfort, depression, anxiety, and dementia. She lost a body but still has the Helper with her; forever! What is left behind will be cremated, waiting for Lee to follow, to join her remains in one box, which will then be buried at the White burial site in Dallas, Pa.

We are missing her but understand the profound ways she will be with us forever.
