Obituary of Nancy McCleary

Nancy McCleary, age 73, of Four Seasons, Missouri passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022. 

Nancy was born on September 16, 1949 in Raytown, Missouri, the daughter of Robert and Agnes (Keithly) Bartram.

On October 21, 2006, Nancy was united in marriage to Jeff McCleary. Jeff and Nancy lived at Lake of the Ozarks and enjoyed many great memories over more than 20 years together.  Nancy loved live music, dancing, camping and traveling and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Nancy graduated high school from Quincy Senior High School in Quincy, Illinois in 1967.  She went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Western Illinois University and a Master’s degree in Reading from Northeast Missouri State University (Truman State).  Nancy taught in the English department at Quincy Senior High School for over 30 years, retiring in 2005.  After her retirement from teaching, she worked in the real estate industry at Lake of the Ozarks.

Nancy had two children with her former husband, James Freiburg, who they raised in Quincy, Illinois together – Michael and Jessica Freiburg.  Nancy was a devoted mother who spent many years involved with the PTA, cheering on her kids’ sporting events, dance recitals, etc. and being the rock of her family.  She also cherished her card club with her girls every month.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Jeff McCleary of Four Seasons, Missouri; son Michael Freiburg (Ashley) of Brentwood, Tennessee; daughter Jessica Freiburg (Michele) of Oak Park, Illinois.  Her beloved grandchildren who lovingly called her Nana, Caroline Freiburg of Brentwood, Tennessee and Evelyn, Harrison, Lillian and Nolan Freiburg of Oak, Park, Illinois.  Nancy is also survived by her brothers Charles (Patricia) of Odessa, Missouri and Mike (Mary) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and many adoring nieces and nephews.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of life will be planned for Nancy in Spring 2023.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
