Obituary of Doris Holden

Doris Holden, age 79, of Camdenton, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri.

Doris was born November 5, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Fred A. and Zella E. (Lane) McClain.

Doris was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a master gardener and loved her orchids. She loved her pets so much. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and traveling. She volunteered for Medical Missions for Christ and served as an elder in her church. She was a Lifetime Auxiliary member serving at Lake Regional Health System from 2011 – 2020 and 2867 hours. She also volunteered at the Camden County Health Department, assessing the developmental needs of the area’s children. In 1975, Doris was nominated for Jaycee’s Outstanding Young Woman, and she was a member of Beta Sigma PHI.

Doris is survived by her daughter Serena Detlie and her husband Kirk of Camdenton, Missouri, grandson Alex Smith, special family friend Nancy Klapp, and daughter-in-law Rhonda Perryman.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Zella McClain, sons Robert Lee Smith II and Justin Marshall Smith, and sister Freeda Lea McClain.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Community Christian Church in Camdenton, Missouri. The family will welcome friends for visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 pm.

Interment will be held at Buffalo Prairie Cemetery in Montreal, Missouri.
