Obituary of Darryl Wayne Hartung

Please share a memory of Darryl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Darryl Wayne Hartung, 73 of Linn Creek, Missouri, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, January 10, 2023.

Darryl was born on April 2, 1949, in Denver, Colorado. He was the son of Howard and Darlene Hartung. He married Dianna (Brenz) Hartung on January 30, 1971. He was blessed with two children, GaDawn Hartung of St. Joseph, Missouri and Cody Hartung, who went home and is now rejoicing and praising our God in heaven together. He has one granddaughter, Bailey (Hartung) Gribble and her husband , Nate Gribble of Overbrook, Oklahoma. He had one great grandson, Creed Gribble, who is also in Heaven with his grandpa, and great-grandpa and  great- great-grandparents.

Darryl was a Christian by faith, a good brother, husband, father, and grandpa. He loved hunting and fishing in his younger years. He loved music and he taught himself how to play guitar and was on the Praise Team and played bass at Foundation Fellowship. He was very active with the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, which had been very good for him. They are Vets helping Vets and he was commander for many years. He was introduced to them when the traveling Vietnam wall came to Linn Creek Campground after 9-11. He only wanted his granddaughter Bailey, to go with him to scratch off the names on the wall of those he had served with. He was also a great daddy to Kasa, his Australian Shepherd.

Anyone who knew Darryl knew that he was a straight shooter, and would tell you what he thought, if asked. He was a true patriot. God knew his heart and he will truly be missed by so many who really loved him.

Darryl is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dianna (Firestorm) Hartung; daughter GaDawn Hartung; granddaughter Bailey, and husband Nate Gribble; two brothers, Larry Hartung and wife Patty, and Shawn Hartung and wife Donna, all of Missouri; sister -law and brother-in-law, Sue and Ronnie Harvey of Clarence, Missouri; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family.
