Obituary of Eleanor E. Depew

Eleanor E. Depew, age 89, of Osage Beach, Missouri, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023 at Lake Regional Health System, in Osage Beach, Missouri.

Eleanor was born on March 7, 1933 in Athens, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Alfred and Gertrude (Bates) Allen.

On April 12, 1952, Eleanor was united in marriage to James E. Depew in Athens, Pennsylvania. They shared 62 years of marriage at the time of his passing on April 1, 2014.

Eleanor was a devoted military wife and enjoyed many hobbies. She had a green thumb and loved to garden and enjoyed reading and watching hummingbirds. Eleanor was an active member at Harper Chapel Methodist Church where she served on several committees. She loved helping others and participated in many missions through the church. She received a Special Mission Award in 2006.

Eleanor is survived by her son James B. Depew, of Eldon, Missouri; her daughters Charron (Mike) Hack, of Camdenton, Missouri and Lourae (Jeff) Fitzgerald, of South Pasadena, Florida; her sister Arlene Sinsabaugh, of Sayre, Pennsylvania; and seven grandchildren, Jamison Robinson, Brittany (Cory) Robinson Fisher, Justin (Shawna) Depew, Jessica Fitzgerald, Alexander Hack, Hunter (Kelsie) Depew, and Jacquelyn Fitzgerald.

Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred, and Gertrude Allen; her husband, James E. Depew; her brothers, Emery, and Bill Allen; and her sisters, Marion Carberry, Margaret Nichols, Myrtle Worblewski, Edith Polzella, and Georgia Falsey.

Funeral services for Eleanor will be held at 2:00 pm, on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Harper Chapel United Methodist Church, in Osage Beach, Missouri.  The family will welcome friends for Visitation from 1:00 -2:00pm at the church.

Burial will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Fort Leonard Wood / Waynesville, Missouri.
