Obituary of Thelma Marie Waltemath

In loving memory of Thelma Marie Waltemath (nee Williams) who joined her Lord and Savior in eternal life on March 3, 2023. She was the devoted wife of W. Leroy Waltemath, and loving mother of Bill (Cathy) Waltemath, Barbara (Dale) Darnell, and Michael (Paula) Waltemath. She was grandmother to Teresa Sanders, Lisa (Wade) Williams, Bethany (Thomas) Diaz, Jason Waltemath, Rachael (Shamus) Johnson, Brandon (Stephanie) Waltemath, Katelyn (Ben) Connell, as well as great grandmother to Michael and Andrew Williams, Alexandria Grill, Emily and Jace Davis, Michael, Noah, River, and Stella Waltemath, and Myla and Luke Connell.

She is preceded in death by her parents John and Eileen Williams, husband W. Leroy Waltemath, sister Virginia Searing, and great granddaughters Brianna Barton and Anna Marie Davis. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Thelma was born on September 27, 1933, to John and Eileen Williams in St. Louis, Missouri. She married the love of her life Leroy Waltemath in Randolph, Pocahontas, Arkansas at the age of 18 and they had three children. Before her retirement she thoroughly enjoyed being owner and beautician at Elite Beauty Salon in St. Louis, Missouri.  

She was a kind, caring, and giving person, always putting the needs of her family before her own. She was a strong Christian woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. She has been a well-traveled servant of God, spreading his word and laying the foundation of faith in her family and on missions near and far.

Growing up she was always there for her children, whether it be helping with homework, an encouraging word, a shoulder to cry on, prayer, or advice for life’s curveballs. She instilled in them the importance of God, prayer, family, love, and hard work. Her loss will be felt by many for a very long time.

Memorial services will be held May 6, 2023 at 9:30 am, at Trinity Assembly of God Church , 4720 Jamieson Ave, St. Louis, MO 63109

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
