Obituary of Helen Marjorie Stafford

Helen Marjorie Stafford, age 93, of Osage Beach, Missouri, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri.

Helen was born on March 21, 1930, in Arkansas. She was the daughter of John Franklin Campbell and Josephine Denyer Campbell. At the age of 3 Helen moved to Kansas City, where she would later attend UMKC on a scholarship. On November 6, 1948, Helen was united in marriage to Lawrence J. Stafford. Helen worked for many years as a legal secretary and office manager for a Kansas City law firm. She retired in 1992 to care for her husband.

Helen was a member of the First Baptist Church of Camdenton, Missouri. She had many hobbies and talents which included playing the cello, gardening, and cross stitching. She enjoyed attending bible studies, bingo, taking care of her 1979 Pontiac Firebird, and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs.

Helen is survived by her daughter Jaylene Cochrun (Larry); one sister, Phyllis Caughron; four grandchildren, Christine West (Darrell), Erika Joy Ledbetter (Matthew), Patrick Cochrun (Heather), and Andrea Boenker (Dennis); nine great-grandchildren, Riley Ledbetter, Ashley Ledbetter, Lauren Joy Ledbetter, Alexis Faith Ledbetter, Mallory Boenker, Morgan Boenker, Wren Boenker, Bennett Lee Cochrun, and Adalyn Ronna Cochrun.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence J. Stafford; parents John and Josephine Campbell; three brothers, Luther Campbell, Leonard Campbell, and Larry Campbell; and one sister, Edith Eckenroed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Helen’s name.

A visitation will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023, at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Camdenton, Missouri from 3:00pm to 4:00pm. Services will follow the visitation at 4:00pm.
