Obituary of Rubin Karl Stoufer

Rubin Karl Stoufer (known as Karl), born March 17, 1937, to his parents Clarence and Sarah Frances Stoufer in Macks Creek Missouri in a 3-room farmhouse. Karl passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023. He was 86 years old.  Karl was saved and baptized as a young boy in the creek in Macks Creek and was later Ordained as a Deacon and served as such through Missionary Baptist Church until his death.

Karl was preceded in death by his parents, twelve siblings and his first wife Benita Stoufer (married 1958-2004).

Karl left his parental farm in Macks Creek at the age of 12, moving to the city, meeting, and marrying Bernita Mae Garrison in 1958. Three children were born to the couple, Denny Lee (Betty), Karl Dean (Loretta) and April Karleen Cochran (Mark) From their children Karl would enjoy six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.

To support his growing family, Karl worked as a foreman, a dump truck driver, then an over the road truck driver. During the early years (late 1960”s to early 1970’s) Karl loved dirt track racing and brought his young family to the race track regularly. In 1982 Karl returned to the family farm in Macks Creek doing what he loved; farming and raising cattle. In addition to farming, Karl and Bernita opened and ran a gas station, garage, and craft shop in Macks Creek.

Karl married Terrie Wolf-Dill on February 20, 2005. The union lasted 18 years, until his death. From this union Karl and Terrie gained four stepchildren and six-step grandchildren.

Karl leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins that will miss him dearly.

Karl loved his family, his church, his God and his farm. He will be missed by all those that knew and loved him for the honest, hardworking, funny, thoughtful, and loving man that he was.  

Services are scheduled at 12:00 pm, Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Macks Creek, Missouri.   The family will welcome friends for visitation from 10:00 am-12:00 pm, prior to services at the funeral home.

Interment will follow services at Parrack Grove Cemetery.
