Obituary of Charles Louis Lormis

Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Charles Louis Lormis, age 90, of Lebanon, Missouri, went home to his Heavenly Father, Saturday, July 1, 2023 in Camdenton, Missouri.

Charles was born September 10, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Louis and Lillian (Jones) Lormis.

He met the love of his life, Loretta Owens, when they were both very young, and were married March 6, 1950 in Lebanon, Missouri.   They shared 63 years of marriage together until Loretta was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 19, 2013.

Charles and Loretta lived in numerous locations during the early years of their marriage. They started in Missouri, then Idaho, then Oregon, then Washington, and back to Missouri for several years. They returned back to Washington where he worked for over 30 years for King County.  They relocated a final time back to Missouri in 1991 where he and Loretta established the Spring Up O Well Campground in Eldridge, Missouri, where families met to enjoy old fashioned camp meetings.

Charles enjoyed hunting and fishing, even during storms, when everyone else would quit, he wanted to cast again. He also loved spending time with family, traveling, and farming his land. He loved playing Dominos, especially when he won against the girls. (and he never cheated at playing).  In more recent years, Charles enjoyed making candy with his daughter Cindy.  It was the perfect opportunity to satisfy his sweet tooth, while “helping” Cindy with “one for you, and one for me” assembly work.  He also loved her cinnamon rolls.

He loved his Lord and Savior most of all and is now living in the presence of His Glory.

Charles is survived by his children, Charles Lormis and wife, Bonnie of Liberty Lake, Washington, Reverend Roy Lormis and wife, Kathy, of Midway, Georgia, Reverend Robert Lormis and wife, Laura, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Cindy Fesler and husband, Reverend Myron Fesler, of Camdenton, Missouri; his daughter-in-law Christine Lormis of Horicon, Wisconsin; along with 22 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great grandchildren, as well as his special friends Tim and Joy Scott.

He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Lillian Lormis; his wife Loretta; his son David Lormis; his daughter Alice Beauprey and her husband, Reverend John Beauprey; and his step-grandson Robert Keeper.

Services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, July 7, 2023, at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Camdenton, Missouri.  The family will welcome friends for visitation from 10:00-11:00 am prior to services at the funeral home.
