Obituary of Francis Allen Smith

Francis Allen Smith, age 71, of Lake Ozark, Missouri, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

Francis was born on November 20, 1951, in Joplin, Missouri. He was the son of Joseph and Lena (Allen) Smith.

Francis was in the United States Army for 9 years 2 months. Francis worked as an over the road truck driver prior to him working for and retiring from Miles Excavating. Since retiring Francis spent his time fishing every chance he could. He loved spending time with his family especially his granddaughters.

Francis is survived by his daughters Christie Meyer (Evan) of Lake Ozark, Missouri and Mary Fiatte (Kelly) of Graham, Texas; his brother Jay Smith (Sharn) of Kansas City, Kansas; two sisters Connie Ward of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Mary Smith (Jack) of Osawatomie, Kansas; and seven grandchildren, Ally, Maddy, Olivia, Kristen, Sarah, Carrie and Heather; two nieces Carey Rucker and Monic Sleeper; two nephews Brad and Andy Bradford.

Francis is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Lena Smith; two brothers Ronald Smith and Perry Joe Smith; and his sister Anna Rose Bradford.

Services will be held on Monday, July 10, 2023, at 12:00p.m. at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Osage Beach, Missouri. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00a.m. to 12:00p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Francis’ name.
