In Loving Memory

Anneliese Homm

Affectionately known as Annelie, Mom and OMA

“Eins, Zwei, Drei, Gsuffa!” (One, Two, Three, Drink!)

-Annelie lead many of song this way

Anneliese Homm, age 85, of Osage Beach, Missouri, departed this life on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, in Springfield, Missouri with daughter Marianne by her side.

Annelie was born July 22, 1937, in Suttrop, Germany the daughter of Josef and Elizabeth Ehling.  Annelie lived with her parents and two brothers, Winfred and Bert Ehling in Germany until the family decided to pursue a new life in the United States, the land of opportunity, May 11, 1954.

Annelie graduated Rosatikain High School, a catholic all-girls school in St. Louis, Missouri 1958

She then met the love of her life Joseph Homm and quickly united in marriage on November 14, 1959, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Ozark, Missouri.  Together they shared 54 years together before Papa Joe’s death in 2013.

Annelie and Joseph both worked at “Jo Jo’s Sweet Shop” later renamed “Jo Jo’s Restaurant” before purchasing the business from the family in 1962.  Annelie and husband Joseph owned and operated Restaurants in Osage Beach over a span of 51 years, which included “Jo Jo’s”, the “Eldorado Motor Lodge and Restaurant”, “Papa Joe’s @ Grand Glaize”, “Papa Joes @ the Rafters”, “Papa Joe’s Oak Tree Inn” and “City Grill and the Blue Room”.

With most of all of her time spent in the restaurants, Annelie ALWAYS seemed to find time for Faith, Family and Friends.  A devout Catholic attending Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with a near flawless attendance record.  She and husband Joseph were members of the Deutsch Maennerchor of St. Louis, as well as “Regulars” at many Deutsch Dances in and around the Lake and St. Louis areas.  Annelie and Papa Joe also hosted annual “Octoberfests” at their restaurants and at the Lions Club celebrating and honoring their European heritage.

Anneliese simply put was a beautiful woman with a beautiful soul.  She touched all that she encountered in such a glorifying and positive manner. An unwavering and relentless work ethic.  Gratitude Loving, Empathy, Compassion, Solace, Humility, Kindness, Love and respect for her family and children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, employees and yes, even grumpy customers.  All words will lead you back to Anneliese Homm.  One of her favorite passages was: “You cannot do a kindness too soon because you never know how soon it will be too late.”

Der Gemutlichkeit (To cheer and good times)
