Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Blair

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mary Elizabeth Blair, age 98, of Camdenton, Missouri, went home to her Heavenly Father, Tuesday, August 8, 2023.  She passed away on the 77th Anniversary date of marriage to her beloved husband, John Blair Jr., who preceded her in death July 23, 2000.

Mary was born November 25, 1924, at Old Linn Creek, Missouri, the daughter of Jesse Corbett Foster and Katie Irene (Farmer) Foster.  She was a lifelong resident of Camden County and a well-respected member of the lake area community.

She met and married the love of her life, John Blair Jr. and together they raised their family in Camdenton.  She took great pride in her role as homemaker and was a devoted and loving wife to her husband and a fun-loving mom to her children.

Mary was a founding member of Camdenton United Methodist Church and faithful follower of Christ.  She embodied grace, kindness, generosity, compassion and above all love in everything she did.

She enjoyed playing card games (nerts, onze and bridge) as well as swimming, traveling, and having coffee with friends.  Mary was dedicated to her prayer and praise group and various community groups such as Eastern Star and Red Hat Society.  She also volunteered wherever needed in the community.

Mary’s greatest pride and joy was her family.  She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will always be remembered as a wonderful, charming and caring Mom and Grandma Mary whose memory they will cherish for a lifetime.

Mary is survived by her children, Debby Young and husband, Ernie, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, John F. Blair and wife, Corinne, of Camdenton, Missouri, Jim Blair and wife, C.J. of Camdenton, Missouri, Steve Blair and wife, Annette, of Springfield, Missouri, Chris Lombardo and husband, Guy, of Babcock Ranch, Florida, and Matt Blair and wife, Carla, of Camdenton, Missouri. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Corbett and Katie Foster, her husband, John Blair Jr. and her sisters, Neta Messersmith, Marvel Carey, and Margaret Schmittou and all her in-laws.

A Celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 11:30 am, Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Camdenton United Methodist Church, Camdenton, Missouri.  The family will welcome friends for visitation from 10:00-11:30 am prior to services at the church.
