Obituary of Vera Eileen Tucker Butts

Vera Eileen Tucker Butts, age 97, passed away Friday, August 18, 2023 at Camdenton, Missouri.

Eileen was born June 22, 1926 in Hickory County, Missouri to Deene L. (Anderson) Tucker and Russell G. Tucker.  She was raised by her maternal grandparents, Dr. John H. and Hattie Margaret Anderson.

Eileen accepted Christ as her Savior in 1938 and was baptized in a creek near Tunas, Missouri in November.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Camdenton and served Christ faithfully the rest of her life.

On October 14, 1943 in Centerline, Michigan, Eileen married her high school sweetheart, Flavel Jefferson Butts. Their life together began during the horrible time of World War II, but their love endured. They were married for 47 years before Flavel passed away, March 17, 1990.   To this union, one son, Flavel Joe Butts was born.

Eileen was an extremely hard worker.  She worked as a beauty operator, several years at First National Bank and several years at the Camdenton Medical Center. For the next 18 years, Eileen devoted time to help her husband, Flavel, in his position as State Representative.

Eileen loved cooking, decorating cakes, arranging flowers and gardening. She loved being busy and was always ready to help. Her family was her life. She loved them dearly. Eileen will be missed by family and friends.

Eileen is survived by her son, Flavel Joe and his wife, Ellen; two grandsons, Brian and his wife, Catrina of Camdenton, Missouri, and Chris and his wife, Tiffany of Trinity, Florida; four great grandchildren, the joy of her life, Tristan, Carter, Blair, and Tyler; one niece, Sue Shepherd; two nephews, Mike Russell, Mark Russell, and many cousins.

Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Flavel; her only brother, John Russell; her mother, Deene Rose; her father, Russell Tucker; her beloved grandparents, John H. and Hattie Anderson; her niece, Ann Goodnight; and many aunts and uncles.

Services will be held at 11:30 am, Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Camdenton, Missouri.  The family will welcome friends for visitation from 10:00-11:30 am, prior to services at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Climax Springs Cemetery, Climax Springs, Missouri.
