Please share a memory of Marian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Marian Lee Dolstein, age 97, of Gravois Mills, Missouri, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023, at Golden Age Living Center in Stover, Missouri.

Marian was born February 1, 1926, in Versailles, Missouri, the oldest child of Morris Andrew Lammert and Oma (Wilson) Lammert.  She was raised on a farm in rural Morgan County along with her sister June and baby brother Morris Wayne.

In their elementary years, Marian and June attended  a one-room schoolhouse located in the rural Mennonite farm community near their childhood home.  They traveled to school each day by means of a horse-drawn buggy, with Marian at the reigns.  The buggy was owned by the Wenger family and was given to the girls’ grandfather, Dr. Colonel Wilson, as payment for his medical services.  “Billy”, the horse would remain tied and ready until the girls’ school day was finished, and the ride home would commence.

Marian was married to Edward “Bill” Dolstein on June 20, 1943, and soon thereafter, Bill was serving our country overseas during World War II.   After the war, they lived in Kansas City, Missouri, where Marian taught in the public school system.  She taught several different grade levels through the years, but mostly enjoyed teaching the fourth- grade students.   After she and Bill retired, they relocated to Gravois Mills, Missouri, where they hosted family and friends at their little piece of heaven on the Lake of the Ozarks.

Marian enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and friends.  She was a member of Gravois Mills United Methodist Church where she played piano for 30 years and was active with the United Methodist Women's group.  Marian was also a member of the Lion's Club of Gravois Mills, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a 40 year member of Daughters of the American Revolution, a member of VFW Post 5178 Women's Auxiliary and volunteered her time with the Morgan County Library and the Kidwell Home.

Marian is survived by her children; David Lee Dolstein and wife, Kathi and Sherry Elaine O’Brien and husband, Don; five grandchildren, Ashley Cobb Phelan (Tommy), Whitney Cobb Zisman (Stan), Rebekah Dolstein Kramer, Matthew David Dolstein (Shelley), and Rachel Dolstein Goepfert (Colin); fourteen great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and two great-great step grandchildren; her brother, Morris Wayne Lammert;  along with several other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Morris and Oma Lammert; her husband, Edward Bill Dolstein; her sister, June W. Garrison Bridges; along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
