Uncle Art was always the protector. I remember even when I was young he was always looking out for his nieces and nephews. Fishing was his biggest passion and despite him not wanting to take me out with him, for fear of me losing interest and making the trip cut short, once he saw the tears in my eyes and heard the pleaing in my voice he took me along on my first fishing trip. I cried. I wanted to go home shortly after arriving. He didn't make a big deal was glad that I was interested and left his beloved passion early for his dear god child. He was everyone's favorite uncle and he will be missed dearly. He will not be forgotten. His legacy and love for the sport of fishing will live on. Just as with every blue sky I see his mother (grandma blue eyes) with every fish (ever hoping it's a BIG one) I will always think of my favorite Uncle Artie.
Love you always. Your flower girl/god daughter

I too enjoy your favorite sport fishing and I will think of you every time I enjoy those calming waters. Though you are gone from this earth your memories and legacy will shine on in those you have touched.

At JSI we enjoyed working with Art and were very sad to hear of his passing. He was a great supporter of our sheltered workshop employees. We offer prayers of comfort to Art's family and his business partner, Mike.

This candle is a mere flicker compared to the light of love and laughter you continue to shine on this Earth, Uncle Art. I'll catch a 'big one' for you soon!
Love,
Jonathan

I got to know Art through my dad. He started having custom fishing rods made for him after meeting Art. I was always jealous of my dad’s fishing rods so I convinced him to see if Art could make one for me. Little did I know what a great person I would get to befriend after that. Art agreed to make my fishing rod, pink and purple, but asked I called him some time to talk fishing. And that we did. I was driving a lot for a few years and on the long drives home I knew that I could give Art a call and catch up and talk fishing to help pass the time by. I remember vividly calling him on my drive home from fishing the day after I got engaged and asking him if he would make me and Curt a set of custom wedding rods. He gave me so much trouble about settling down and that there was a lot of fish in the lakes still. He joked he was going to make the rods but just put a ? mark instead of my husband’s name. I always appreciated his sense of humor. I brag to everyone about the way Art would make me fishing rods and just how great of a person he was. Art even came and surprised me after a fishing tournament one night with a new Rod and a bag full of tackle. We sat around for a few hours talking about fishing methods and rigging up a couple wacky worms for me to use the next day. I will forever cherish those memories of Art and our long chats. Art was a “keeper” and will forever hold a place in my heart. Thank you to his family for sharing him with me and my family. You all are in my prayers.
God grant that I may live to fish until my dying day.
And when it comes to my last cast I then most humbly pray
When in the Lord’s great landing net and peacefully asleep
That in His mercy I be judged big enough to keep.

I will miss our frequent phone conversations.....plotting for the next big deal and the next big catch. A truly wonderful man with a huge heart and love for all the people he came in contact with. A master at the science of fishing who wanted to share his knowledge with everyone. A loving husband to his wife Victoria and an important part of my life as his cousin.

Art will always be in my heart, he was my big brother, it is going to take me awhile not to want to call him on my way home from work and talk about things. I will miss his messages with "peanuts" his nickname for me. We may have lived apart but our hearts were in sync...
