Hi, Jeanelle.
I hope you get or see this message. I was so very sorry to read of Ted's passing. I just checked the online version of the Leader newspaper.
I had no idea that Ted was such an avid reader. I love reading. I tell my students all the time, "Readers Are Leaders."
I think of you all from time to time and especially when I go over to Mom and Dad's house. Seth (son) lives there since Dad became ill and I had to put him in Crystal Oaks. Dad passed away in December 2012 and Mom in April of 2011. I miss them dearly, of course. I was just quoting Dad the other day and I often use some of the silly "Harlinisms" he used to say. Such as, "I've got a whole lot of nothing to do and all day to do it." Mom comes to mind so often when I cook and when there are activities with my kids. Mom and Dad loved their volleyball, football, school events, etc. Many people tell me that I act and sound like my Mom. I agree and I am totally, mostly, usually okay with that. Ha, ha. She had spunk.
Seth (29) finished his four-year degree in 2010 and he is working. He loves being out back in Dad's yard piddling around and watching/feeding wildlife. He and his girlfriend are expecting a baby in about 3 weeks..... Averey Jane. While I am not happy about the circumstances/order of things, I am happy about a baby. Mollie (24) got married in October of 2013. Her husband is a MO Highway Patrol and they live just up the road in Oakville on Telegraph. She is an admissions counselor for a college in St. Louis and is finishing her Master's degree.
I am retiring in 25 days!! I could have retired a few years back, but it was when Mom was so ill and I really couldn't believe that time had gotten here so "quickly." I have been at Jefferson College for 32 years! I love teaching but it is time. I am getting old and tired. It will be nice to enjoy some reading, traveling, and possibly part-time teaching.
I understand the pain and this grief process. Take your time. There is no right or wrong. Give yourself grace to feel and do whatever you think is necessary. I wish you well. When God brings you to my mind/heart, I will pray for you.
With love and sympathy,
Janie
