Obituary of Julius Kenkel
Julius "Slim" Kenkel , age 90, of Osage Beach, Missouri, formerly of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016 at his residence in Osage Beach.
Julius was born February 21, 1926 in St Louis, Missouri, the son of Julius and Hilda Kenkel.
Slim was united in marriage January 1, 1949 to Shirley in Pocahontas, Arkansas. They shared 67 years together and worked side by side until his passing.
Slim was a World War II Veteran, serving and fighting in the Battle of the Bulge with the infantry. Slim was honorably discharged from the Army, April 20, 1946.
Slim owned and operated Kenkel Construction in St. Louis, Missouri. Later, he decided to go into the restaurant business opening Imo’s Pizza in Springfield, Missouri. Slim enjoyed life to the fullest and had several interests and hobbies including, bowling, flying his airplane, playing poker and Barbeque.
Slim was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Lions Club, the American Legion and was a life time member of the Bull-Pen.
Slim is survived by his wife Shirley; and six children, Barbara, Randy, Debra, Nancy, Dennis and Jeffery; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; along with several other relatives and many friends.
