Obituary of Lawrence Evan Beal

Lawrence (Larry) Evan Beal, 71, was born January 24, 1946 at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, and joined his heavenly Father and many other family and friends on March 18, 2017. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy (Beadnall) Beal and father, Maynard Beal. He is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home; one daughter, Terri Wilhite-Holstrom; and one grandson, Trevor Holstrom, Blue Springs, Missouri. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Beal, Independence, and Ken Beal and wife, Jane, Bates City; his sister, Carolyn Beal Kolb and husband, Mike of Richmond, Virginia; one step-brother, Joel Paslay and wife, Vickie, of Independence, Missouri; brothers-in-law, Dr. Dale McElwee and wife, Sara, and Rick McElwee and wife, Jo, all of Camdenton, Missouri; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is also survived by his special buddy, Jake. Larry was proud of the 49 years he served in public education. He continued his service to the boys, girls, and teachers of Missouri by being active in the Missouri State Teachers Association where he served on the Board many years and as president in 1985. He also served as president of the Missouri Retired Teachers Association and served on the Board until his illness. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Chiefs and Royals. He attended 2 Super Bowl games and an All Star-Game in 1978 where they had a Royal infield. In 1985, he and Betty were also present at game 7 when the Royals defeated the Cardinals to win the World Series crown. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, April 2, 2017, from 1:00-4:00 pm at Lake Valley Country Club, 367 C.C. Blair Drive, Camdenton, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Missouri Retired Teachers Foundation, 3030 Dupont Circle, Jefferson City, Missouri 65109 or online at www.mortf.org to be used for scholarships and grants for active teachers.
