My sincere condolences to the family of Chuck Sandy. I am a JD retiree, retiring in Feb 2016with 41 years of service. When I started with Deere in 1975, Chuck was one of the first people I met with his hearty handshake and a bright smile.
Over the years, Chuck and I intersected on projects, meetings and seminars several times. I began working at Milan-PDC in 1997 and that is where Chuck and I had the closest working relationship. When Chuck became manager of Distribution Reliability, I back filled him as I.E. manager. I relied on Chuck for advice and perspective on many things. Starting in 2003 and over the next couple of years, Chuck and I worked closely together on the design and implementation of the Dailiy Stock Order program which was a huge complex project radically improving the order fulfillment process for our NA dealers. In the midst of constant challenges and issues, Chuck always maintained his classic positive attitude and promoted solutions. I never saw Chuck get "rattled" or respond in anger. He had a calm approach and always had ideas to address problems. I remember his laugh and effective use of humor to take the edge off tense situations.
His picture in the obit. is the image I will remember - that great smile and perfect hair!
