Obituary of Rachel Arnold

Rachel Arnold, age 97, of Camdenton, Missouri passed away on Monday, October 9, 2017 at Windsor Estates in Camdenton.

Rachel was born on March 18, 1920 in Green County, Kentucky at home. She was the daughter of William Phelps Rice and Laura Joyce (Dills) Rice.

On June 12, 1948 she was joined in marriage to Merle Monroe Arnold, in Fort Knox, Kentucky. They shared 45 years of marriage at the time of his death on January 23, 1993.

Rachel was a homemaker and a member of Women’s Auxiliary VFW Post 6514 in Kaiser, Missouri. She then transferred membership to VFW Post 5923 in Camdenton, Missouri. She was an active member of Osage Beach Elks Lodge #2517 and Osage Beach Lions Club. Some of her favorite past-times were reading, crocheting, and playing bingo. She enjoyed working as a volunteer at Dogwood Animal Shelter.

Rachel is survived by her granddaughter Bobbi Winn; her grandson Nicky Winn; her great granddaughter Sidney Winn and many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband Merle “Pops” Arnold; her daughter Yvonne Winn; five brothers and three sisters.

Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home, Osage Beach, Missouri. Friends will be welcomed for visitation from 9:30-11:00 a.m. prior to service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Missouri.
