Obituary of Charles Mancel McDowell

Charles Mancel McDowell, age 87, of Kaiser, Missouri passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017 at his home.

Charles was born on February 9, 1930 in Osage Beach, Missouri. He was the son of Charles and Lillian (Lake) McDowell.

He served his country proudly as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army from March 2, 1953 to March 5, 1955.

Charles graduated from the School of the Osage and went on to receive his undergraduate degree at Missouri University Science and Technology Rolla, and his graduate degrees at the University of Michigan. He worked as an electrical engineer and was a respected professor at Rolla University. Charles enjoyed music and playing his violin. He also enjoyed being outdoors and working in the yard.

He is survived by his sister, Desta Bernice Shaw and husband Don of Arlington, Virginia.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lillian McDowell and his brother, Michael “Fuzzy” McDowell.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Waynesville, Missouri.
