Obituary of Nelda Sue Varner

Nelda Sue Varner, age 65, of Osage Beach, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Lakeside Meadows in Osage Beach, Missouri.

Nelda was born April 22, 1952 in Brumley, Missouri. She was the daughter of Virgil and Cecille Jeffries.

Nelda worked over 20 years as a waitress at Arrowhead Lodge making many friends and loyal patrons during that time.  When the Lodge closed, Nelda went to work in the Deli Department at Hyvee in Osage Beach and enjoyed working and helping customers there for 12 years.  She enjoyed collecting Fenton Glass pieces through the years and loved helping other people when she could.  Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children.

Nelda is survived by  her children, Michael Varner of Eldon, Missouri, Mickey Varner of Eldon, Missouri, and Melissa Mackay and husband Bill of Osage Beach,  Missouri; her brothers, Donald Gene Jeffries and wife, Nancy of Findley, Illinois, Jerry Jeffries and wife, Erica, of Eldon, Missouri, Dennis Jeffries and wife, Gayla, of Brumley, Missouri, and Lester Jeffries of Brumley, Missouri; her sisters , Louise Thorson of Olean, Missouri, Erma Byrd and husband Edgar, of Brumley, Missouri and Faye Burks of Columbia, Missouri and one granddaughter Janna Mackay of Boonville, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Cecille Jeffries; two brothers, Laverne and Timothy; and two sisters, Lucille Hargis, and Ruth Shoemate.

Services will be held Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Osage Beach, Missouri.  The family will welcome friends for visitation from 12:00-1:00 pm prior to services at the funeral home.
