Obituary of Geoffrey Phillip Stein

Geoffrey (Peppy) Phillip Stein, 65, of Lake Ozark, Missouri, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2020 in Osage Beach, Missouri. Geoff was born September 28, 1954 in Wiesbaden, Germany, son of Lieutenant Colonel George and Betty (Heim) Stein. Geoff is survived by his children Jessica Stein and Luke Stein of Osage Beach, Missouri; granddaughter Jade Ruda of Osage Beach, Missouri; his life partner Jane Rothstein of Lake Ozark, Missouri; his sister Debbie (Kevin) McGuire of Wentzville, Missouri and son Dustin; sister in law Sue Stein of Florissant, Missouri and children Justin and Jamie. Geoff was preceded in death by his parents George and Betty Stein and brother Gregory Stein. Geoff was a brilliant man in so many ways. He was an authentic person, and always made a point of keeping his word. If he said he was going to be somewhere, he was always there on time, no excuses. He knew how to have fun and enjoy life. Geoff lived up to his nickname of Peppy, he was a go getter and he didn’t let anything slow him, including kidney failure. Geoff had his ups and downs throughout his life, but one thing his friends/family never saw in him was self-pity. One of his favorite quotes was Dr. Seuss, “Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.” He never let formal teaching stop him from learning whatever he set his mind too. He taught himself many trades; surfing, musician, insurance, accounting, construction, real estate, computers, health & nutrition… You name it, he knew something about it & he may even debate you on it! He was a devoted grandpa even though he originally said he wanted to be called Mr. Stein; as soon as he saw his precious Jade that quickly changed to Papa. Geoff will be missed and live on in his creative work, family & friends. Services will be held at 3:30 pm on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Osage Beach, Missouri. The family will welcome friends for visitation from 2:00 - 3:30 pm prior to the service at the Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 - 9:00 pm on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Quality Inn, 3501 Bagnell Dam Blvd, Lake Ozark, Missouri 65049. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Jessica Stein.
