Obituary of Ernest L. LaFrance

Ernest (Ernie) (Butch) L. LaFrance, 77, of Lake Ozark, Missouri, passed away in his home on Wednesday, April 22, 2020. Ernie was born in Devils Lake, North Dakota to Ernest and Lea LaFrance. On June 29, 1963, he was united in marriage to Carol Gulseth of Devils Lake, North Dakota. He graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Devils Lake, and attended North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, where he earned a civil engineering degree. Ernie spent the majority of his career working as a project manager for Cherne Contracting. During his time with Cherne, he completed many successful projects and made many friends along the way. Ernie and Carol moved to Lake Ozark, Missouri in 1992. Ernie was an outdoorsman and spent his time fishing, hunting, and working in the yard. He was hardworking and dedicated to his family and friends, and truly enjoyed being with them. Ernie deeply loved all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those who met him were greeted in a welcoming, accepting, and friendly manner. His family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers will always fondly remember his playful nature and his generous, loving heart. Ernie is survived by his wife Carol; his four children, Lon (Diana), Dane (Katie), Troy (Anja), and Ryan (Kate); his ten grandchildren, Danielle (Justin), Brett (Sandy), Colin (Rilee), Pari, Kalli, Nathan, Alex, Isabelle, John, and Elliot; his four great-grandchildren; his sister Linda (Jim); his brothers Tim (Sandy) and Terry (Renee); and his brothers-in-law Mel and John; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great- nephews. Ernie was preceded in death by his father, Ernest, his mother, Lea, and his sisters Donna and Louise. Ernie's family would like to thank all of their loved ones who have encouraged and comforted them during this difficult time. They would also like to thank Hedges-Scott Funeral Home for all of their help and support. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 514 HWY 42, Osage Beach, Missouri 65065.
