Uncle Russ,
My biggest, saddest thing is not being able to go to PV with him. He was another father in our village of a family and it is hard to see him leave just as I and my cousins were getting to know him as adults.
We love you Uncle Russ!
Nathan

Lee and I have so many wonderful memories with Russ. We will miss him so much, especially in Mexico and on cruises. We had so many vacations planned for the next forty years.

To Dee and all the family, I am so, so sorry that Russ's time came so early. I remember working with Russ for a time at the repair bench here a long time back. He had a big spirit, and was serious about making a life for his family. I think Russ found success in a lot of things, but his biggest was in being a family man. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you, and remembering Russ.

Jim & I met Russ in 1987 when he started dating our daughter. We have SO many memories of Russ but one unforgettable one is the night he proposed to Dee. He insisted that Dee’s grandparents & us all go to dinner at a nice restaurant. We order drinks & the next thing we know Russ is standing up and asking all of us for her hand in marriage & then on knee proposing to Dee.
Jim’s comment “that took guts”.
Russ was severely injured with a broken back in a work accident when Chad was just a baby. Russ’s back always hurt but he rallied & went back to work. Russ always found a job ( sometimes working 2 jobs) & continued to grow & progress his career. Russ & Dee welcomed Russ’s Dad into their home where he lived for many years. Russ helped us care for our parents. It is so true that he embraced every member of Dee’s family as his own.
I can still see Russ out in the lake on that Jet Ski seeing how much of a performance he could put on, spinning & being crazy. At our gatherings he would show up with food, help set up & organize then he was off to dive the deepest, swim the fastest, jump off the cliff the most, break the most waves, that was Russ. When we were at the shop you could hear him challenging, commenting & competing to win ping pong, corn hole, pool, board games. As the evening progressed you could hear him (as he got louder)having a great time.
Russ, I am sure you knew how much we loved you just as I knew how much you cared by the love & respect you had shown us over the last 35 years.
The family was not done sharing adventures with you, we know you would want all of us to continue on discovering, enjoying and embracing life.

When I was 14 years old I made a trip to Missouri, I rode the first half with my cousin Russ. He didn’t have much to say, but he made sure I was taken care of and arrived at my destination safely. Which is more than I can say for the second half of the trip when my Aunt Val’s car caught on fire and she put it out with a can of Diet Pepsi. To me he seemed a man of few words but I always knew that the one thing he loved most in the world was his kids and his family. When we ended our visit in 2020 the last hug I gave was to this very special man. You see, I just couldn’t leave without finding him to say goodbye. My heart is broken and has been for the past few days. For as long as I can remember Russ Ballard has been a part of my family. Heaven gained a very kind and gentle soul and his loss will be felt far and wide. I can only imagine the pain his family is feeling. As the saying goes…only the good die young. If you are the praying sort please keep his family in your prayers and if you aren’t please send love and light. Russ…I love you and I will forever miss your presence in this world. Debra Dale…I have no words…I love you…
