Obituary of Dasan John McNerney

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dasan John McNerney, on January 27th in Castle Rock, Colorado. Born April 21, 1989 in Osage Beach, Missouri, Dasan was just 33 years old. Dasan was the son of David and Susan McNerney and the brother of Alyssa Gamm (Skyler) and Dylan McNerney (Amanda). He was the uncle of Tucker, Gracie, Makenna, and Madelyn. He is survived by his grandmother, Donna McNerney, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. 

Dasan was a son, a brother, an uncle, a friend, and a leader. He had big goals and dreams and accomplished many of them, and worked hard every day to accomplish more, whether that was personal goals, work goals, family goals, Dasan was always thinking about how he could better his life and achieve more of his dreams. He strived to be a good family man, a good business man, and a good friend and if you read his goals at any given time, you would see that.

Dasan began his work as an insurance agent and dedicated his life to growing the family business, pioneering the opening of new offices across the country alongside his best friend, Colby. He recruited and mentored countless agents on the way and worked his way up to an executive sales director role. He was always a leader and always wanted to help others succeed however he could. Following in the footsteps of his father, uncle Dan, and grandfather, Darrel, he strived to live by the Zig Ziglar quote, “You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help enough other people get what they want.”

In 2009, Dasan was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and began a long hard battle to heal his body. In the process of Crohn’s treatment for pain, he had many struggles and challenges, but showed extreme courage and grit, never giving up, and setting goals to help him overcome his challenges.

Dasan loved his family and friends, basketball, the KC chiefs, technology and gadgets, buying shoes for his nieces and nephew, and watching documentaries and TV series. He loved his animals, Jasmine (Siberian Husky), and Chief (Savannah cat). 

Dasan will be remembered by his family for his smile, his giggle, his infectious personality, his warmth, and his light. He will be forever missed, but will live on in our hearts and memories until we meet again one day.

A Celebration of Dasan's Life will be held Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Osage Beach, Missouri.  The family will welcome friends for visitation from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to services at the funeral home.
