We had the privilege of knowing this good, good man in Virginia. He was as unselfish as anyone I ever met, and loved to serve and help. He made homemade pizza dough every Friday and loved serving the LDS missionaries pizza. He and I served as home teachers together in the local LDS congregation. It was a beautiful thing to walk into someone’s home with Br Peek. His face would light up the whole room. A gentle man, a supremely kind man, so patient and loving. On occasion he would come to dinner, along with Sister Dorothy, whom we home taught together. His smile was sparkling. I can picture it now, looking down the table at him as we enjoyed loving times. What treasures he has left us!

Q: What was Billy really good at? A: Billy (we called him Brother Peak) was skilled at organizing people and sharing his passion for plants. I remember one fall he gathered local persimmons from the trails all over community, and he cooked it into a Permission pudding. We were lucky enough to taste it. He needed lots of fruit and then had to carefully remove the seeds. It was a labor of love, and he had a lot of fun doing it. Now every fall when I walk past the little orange fruit most people would walk by, I smile remembering Brother Peake.
