Obituary of Billy Lee Peek

Billy Lee Peek, 93, formerly of West Lafayette IN and South Riding VA, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family Monday, February 13th, 2023, at Arrowhead Senior Living Center, Osage Beach, MO.

He was born April 27, 1929, in Shoals Indiana to John Ellis and Mara Louise (Freeman) Peek. He is predeceased by his wife Doris Frances (Hill) Peek and four brothers and their wives: Jack and Evelyn Peek, Freeman and Marcella Peek, John Ellis (Junior) and Mary Peek, and Thomas and Bonnie Peek.

He is survived by his children, Robyn (Peek) Morton, of South Riding VA; Jeffrey Lee Peek and (fiancé Gina Marie Bauck), of Osage Beach, MO; and Leigh Ann (Peek) Hurd (spouse, Barbara Lawrence) of Round Hill, VA. Also surviving are grandchildren, Heather Dawn
(Morton) Mayan, Stephanie Marie Peek, Daniel Ellis Peek, Raechel Frances Hurd, Eric Leland Hurd, and great grandchildren Ethan Aiden Peek, Novalee Jo Peek, and Beckett Ellis Peek.

Billy was a graduate of Shoals High School, Purdue University (BS) and Michigan State University (MS). He was a U.S. Navy veteran, (LT) serving during the Korean war on both the USS Fechteler and USS Thompson. He began his civilian career as an extension agent
in Perry County Indiana. He was quickly identified as an excellent teacher and promoted to the State Extension Service in West Lafayette Indiana where he finished his 20-year career as an assistant professor at Purdue University. After retirement, Billy went on to work full-
time as a tree expert at two nurseries, Capital Nursery in California, and Merrifield Gardens in Virginia. He re-retired at 83.

Billy was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. In his spare time, he enjoyed beekeeping, running, and spending time with family and friends.

Billy will be buried alongside his wife Fran in Quantico National Cemetery.

A graveside service will be held, details are pending.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Dementia Society of America.
